Key Glock on “Glockavelli,” Authenticity, and Life Beyond the Music

Key Glock visited 97.9 The Box’s G and A Pimp to discuss the release of his latest album, Glockavelli, offering candid insights into the creative process, personal growth, and his outlook on life.
Right from the outset, Key Glock emphasized that Glockavelli is deeply personal—reflecting the mindset and experiences he faced last year. Paying homage to Tupac through the album’s title, Glock shared that the songs are rooted in authenticity, with no featured artists. “Can’t nobody tell my story,” he stated, underscoring his dedication to presenting an unfiltered narrative.
Glock highlighted three tracks as particularly meaningful to him: “Made Away,” “Paper Cuts,” and “Hallelujah.” Each, he explained, carries significant emotional weight and showcases different facets of his experiences. He described the album’s creation as both deliberate and intense, balancing a careful approach with the rapid momentum of inspiration. For Glock, versatility is key; he aims to craft music that resonates emotionally but also gets people energized in the club. “I’m in my own lane, but I got more than one lane,” he explained, reflecting his adaptability as an artist.
During the conversation, Glock also offered a glimpse into his life outside music. Family comes first, and he sets boundaries to keep his daughter away from the pressures of his career. When he’s not working, he enjoys shopping, gambling (especially roulette in Las Vegas), and relaxing with friends. Glock also dropped some jewelry-buying wisdom, noting the importance of knowing gold karats and understanding that the foundation and weight matter more than just diamonds’ appearance.
Turning to his passions beyond music, Glock expressed an interest in acting, particularly in action franchises like John Wick. He appeared enthusiastic about pursuing new creative ventures in the future.
The interview wrapped up with Glock reminding fans about his Glockavelli tour (stopping at Houston’s 713 Music Hall on May 23) and the ongoing celebrations for the album’s release. He invited fans to connect on social media and join the festivities, promising more music and surprises ahead.
