Boxer Shot in Arizona, Taken To The Hospital
News outside of Arizona says that one of their local boxers, Jose Benavidez, Jr. was shot early Tuesday morning while walking his dog.
The 24-year old Top Rank fighter is the one of their “rising stars” with 25 matches, 15 of which were KO’s and zero losses. He just came out of a big win in a July undercard fight against Francisco Santana.
Sources are saying that the suspect walked up to Benavidez and brandished a gun and then shot Benavidez in his leg.
The Phoenix PD has confirmed to the shooting and that yes, a victim was transported to the hospital with “non-life threatening injuries.”
Unfortunately, Benavidez was shot in the leg, an injury that has a possibility to threaten his boxing career.
