onald Glover’s brainchild Atlanta has finally arrived and YES it’s pretty damn good. Last night viewers were not only treated to one, but two episodes for last night’s premiere. If you didn’t catch it Atlanta is a dark comedy that follows two cousins Earnest Marks (Donald Glover) and rapper Alfred ‘Paper Boi’ Miles (Brian Tyree). We watch them hilariously try to navigate through the Atlanta hip-hp music scene so they can better the lives of their families. The first episode is provided for you above just in case you missed it.

Making it in the hip-hop industry proves to be no easy task as the two encounter trouble immediately when they get locked up after an encounter in a parking lot leads to a shooting. From there it’s nonstop laughs as these two try to make the best of their given situations all the while encountering random fellow Atliens along the way.

Parking lot standoff
The show immediately opens up with this gem of a scene and has the trio of Earn, Alfred, and Darius in a heated argument. Things got testy when Paper Boi tried to holla at young lady walking by who quickly dismissed him even after he told her he was Paper Boi. Alfred wasn’t feeling her response and returned the vitriol. Of she goes and alerts her boyfriend who knocks Alfred’s driver side mirror off his car. It immediately leads to a standoff as Alfred demands he pays for it. The young lady then mentions that he Alfred is Paper Boi and that he should be able to fix it himself. Her boyfriend at first seems excited to find out that he is Paper Boi but then quickly calls him garbage and his mixtape terrible and asking what the hell does “mucking” mean?
Alfred has had enough and pulls out his gun, while all of this is going Darius is experiencing some serious deja vu. The hilarious part a bystander screaming in the background “oh this is definitely going on Worldstar”.

White boy using the N-word
A scene the caught everyone off guard is when Earn was talking a an old white friend and his very casual use of “Nigga” while telling a story.
Once you get over the initial shock you quickly realize how crazy the scene is when Earn asks a passing janitor if he ever used the word “Nigga” around him? The janitor responds by saying no and if he did he would “break his foot off in his ass”.
That left poor Earn wondering if was just him, so Earn put that theory to the test later on in the episode. Ole white boy meets up with them in the parking lot before all of the drama. Earn asks him to tell the same funny story and he does. Only this time he conveniently left out “nigga”. Earn was like:

Lemon Pepper Wet

After leaving jail in episode 2, Alfred and Darius decide to indulge in some chicken. The patron behind the bar lets Alfred know he is a huge fan of his mixtape and think he’s the realest since Tupac. Oh he also shaded the hell out of Fetty Wap in the process.
To show his appreciation to his favorite rapper, he blesses Alfred and Darius with lemon pepper wings with extra LEMON PEPPER WET and BLUE CHEESE. Rick Ross would have been ecstatic but Paper Boi’s response to the servers kind gestures says it all.

High Conversation
Earn decides to go make a pitch to his cousin Alfred to be his manager after finding out he’s blowing up thanks to his song “Paper Boi”. That’s where we first meet Alfred’s always HIGH friend and partner Darius. They decide to have the conversation outside on a couch while puff puff passing. It’s there we discover that Darius will definitely be one the shows gems.
Earn trying to explain his living situation that he is not homeless and using a rat as a cellphone. Darius chimes in quickly thinking that would be genius and says that there are 5 rats for every person in NYC. If they were using rats as cellphones everyone would have an affordable cellphone.
Whatever gas he’s smoking on it’s really damn good cause bruh!

Honorable mentions: Grinding Granny and Nutella Man
While working his lame regular 9 to 5 at the airport, Earn and his coworker are discussing why they just can’t seem to win at their jobs. It turns out that granny is outselling them cause she is a tremendous flirt. While she is signing up a new customer she is behind grinding on him absolutely hilarious.
Another random but crazy scene was between Earn and we are going to call him the Nutella man.
While sharing some words of wisdom with Earn, Nutella man starts making a sandwich on the bus. Once he is finished he asks Earn if he wants a bite? Earn of course declines but Nutella man insists, Earn turns away for a brief second and when he looks back Nutella man is off the bus walking into the woods being followed by a dog. Bizarre and hilarious at the same time.
Looks like we got a new obsession on Tuesday nights, Atlanta is brilliantly funny.
