Last night’s Grammys made a little bit of history in regards to rappers. A number of high-profile acts took home their first Grammys last night!
Cardi B – Cardi won Best Rap Album at the 2019 Grammy Awards, making her the first solo female rapper to take home the prize. She joins an exclusive list of Lil’ Kim, Queen Latifah, Lauryn Hill, Missy Elliott, Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes, Salt-N-Pepa and Eve as female rappers who have taken home Grammys, period.

Future – Future took home his first Grammy for Best Rap Performance for his part on Jay Rock‘s “King’s Dead” from Black Panther: The Album. Additionally, it marks Jay Rock’s first Grammy win as well!
Anderson .Paak – .Paak tied Jay Rock, Kendrick Lamar and Future in the Best Rap Performance category, taking home his first Grammy.

Young Thug – Thugger took home a Grammy for Song of the Year for his songwriting contribution to Childish Gambino‘s “This Is America”. Additionally, 21 Savage, Slim Jxmmi, Quavo and Blocboy JB all took home Grammys for their background vocal contributions to the song as well.
